Hair loss and you by Hack Stuart
What defines the appearance of a person is the hair. What makes us so distinct from others is mostly our hair. To look different or to support a new look we change our hair style. We differentiate a person as charming, handsome, sweet, cute, manly, modern, old, young etc and our hairstyle plays a major role in creating each of these looks. Not all human being have the same hair, depending upon our genealogy, the texture and color of our hair is different. However, there is one thing which is common or can affect all men, baldness.
At some stage of their life men start to lose hair, it can be any age 40's at times even in 30's. Once the hair start falling they do not stop till the person becomes totally bald or only few strands are left. Hair loss is common problem which every male in the world irrespective of color, race, location etc can face. The fall of hair occurs due to the degeneration and reduction in the size of hair follicles which is known as dihydrotestosterone or DHT; it can also be due to hereditary, androgen and aging.
Once men start losing hair, the process continues and there is only a slight chance of their growing back again. Initially hair start receding from the forehead, if proper treatment is not taken, in no time it results in total baldness. Baldness can be classified into different groups depending on the area where hair loss occurs. Androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness is the most common form of baldness which happens only to men. It is a progressive hair thinning condition and the severity of the hair loss differs from person to person.
As already said the severity and nature of hair loss patterns are different, therefore, the best thing to do is consult doctors who can direct and prescribe you the right treatment. As hair loss is a common problem / sickness where in almost all the men in the world are suffering from it by the age of 50, much research has been done for the treatment of hair loss.
There are varieties of medical as well as non-medical treatments available and it is very hard to say which one is the best. The various treatment available for the treatment of hair loss are Minoxidil, hair cloning or hair multiplication, hair transplantation, scalp reduction, healthy diet and life style, copper peptides, low level laser therapy, saw palmetto, ketoconazole, dutasteride, antiandrogens etc. As the choices are many and the results are varied taking the advice of a physician is a must.
Besides the above medicines and treatments there is one reliable oral drug known as Finasteride. Finasteride marketed with the brand name Propecia by Merck and is approved by the FDA for the treatment of male pattern baldness in 1997. Propecia not only stops further loss of hair but also helps in the regrowth of hair.
However, Propecia is not meant for females hence all you ladies are instructed not to buy Propecia.Pregnant women are strictly forbidden to even touch the packet of Propecia. The active ingredients in Propecia have the power to abnormally change the sex organ of a male baby, therefore women who are planning to be pregnant and who are presently pregnant should not touch or come near broken package of Propecia. Further, it is found that Propecia is not effective as a hair loss or hair growth medicine in women.
