More than a third of people lie about their age, sex life and drinking habits, a survey has found. A poll of 2,000 people found age to be the most common lie with 36% admitting they have been less than honest.
Nearly as many of the respondents - 35% - confessed to bending the truth about how much they drink.
Younger people tended to exaggerate, whereas older boozers were more likely to pretend they drank less.
More than a third (34%) said they lied about the number of sexual partners they have had.
Men said they upped their real number of exes, whereas women claimed to have had fewer partners than was really true.
Other top lies featured in the poll for television channel Really included faking illness to avoid work and pretending to have a higher salary.
