           Flagler Beach

Flagler Beach is situated south of Jacksonville, between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. The tiny town of Flagler Beach with its population of over 5520, is bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by the Intracoastal Waterway, consisting of marshes and wetlands. It has an ideal all year climate and over six miles of quiet, pristine beach, offering a big variety of outdoor recreation like swimming, fish- ing, boating, kayaking, snorkeling, surfing, golf and tennis. Often high incoming waves are ideal for great surfing, where fans come during the summer, to ride on in this paradise until sunset.

All the beaches are amazing, special at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park, where the sea washed away parts of the shore land, and built tidal pools. At Gamble Rogers Memorial State Park, the fragile white dunes are protected with walk- overs down to the sea through powdery, warm golden sand. A Pier on Municipal Boardwalk is known for excellent surfing and fishing.

Since its incorporation in April 1925, Flagler Beach has grown from a sleepy fishing village to a unique seaside community, while still retaining its original charm. It has six miles of not crowded beaches, many great fishing spots (including the Flagler Beach Municipal Pier), restaurants at ocean front, gift shops, and a whole host of recreational facilities – all just there for you !  And the Intracoastal Waterway flows through the city, providing great opportunities for boaters and fishermen.

You can also ride bicycles for over 20 miles along the Atlantic Ocean, or walk from downtown to the Intracoastal Waterway to explore the wetlands, or take an eco-tour from Wickline Park to Flagship Harbor Park. Beside outdoor cafes, restaurants and pubs, gift shops, Flagler Beach has lots of motels, hotels and other rental options. Friday’s comes an old-fashioned far- mer’s market to town, where you can find every- thing from fresh fruits, vegetables to baked food, nuts and plants. During the 4th of July you can enjoy a spectacular display of fireworks from the end of the Pier. There are also many arts & crafts fairs, live music, local entertainment and other special events to enjoy. On top of it, from Flagler it is only a 15 miles drive to the very lively Daytona Beach.
