| ARE YOUR FANPAGES USING A HTTPS SECURE CONNECTION? | Published: 06/06/11 |

If you are NOT using a secure connection with your Facebook FanPages you could be losing a growing percentage of the traffic hitting your fanpages.
As a business owner, you could quite easily have over looked this ... if you have then you can rest assured that the more savvy Facebook browsers are landing on your FanPages and moving swiftly on.
And it's getting worse ... Facebook are now moving ever faster to ensure their members use a secure connection. Which means that if you want your pages to be seen and more importantly if you want to remain on the Facebook platform your FanPages must use a secure connection.
If you do not have a secure connection (HTTPS) for your Fanpages this is what your vistors will see when they try to view your pages:

How many do you think will hit the 'Cancel' option and move on to your competitor?
This is a screen shot of the message sent to me by Facebook this morning. Facebook are no longer allowing members to stumble across this fact, they are actively converting Facebook users.

To ensure you are not losing traffic you should immediately check that your platform is using an SSL certificate,.
If you host your own pages and have over looked this you should put steps in place to purchase an SSL certificate, install on your server and then update each Facebook application.
BZ9 already employs an SSL certificate. We are 100% compliant with Facebook terms.
But if you are hosting your own fanpages or using a platform which is not keeping up with Facebook changes and development you will not only lose traffic and revenue but when the cut off point arrives your FanPages may well cease to exist.
It is easy to verify if your pages are compliant by changing HTTP to HTTPS.
Here is an example, this is a standard non secure URL:
http://www.facebook.com/bz9online?sk=app_114922718587382
If a Facebook visitor is browsing in secure mode they will use same url but the secure version as follows:
https://www.facebook.com/bz9online?sk=app_114922718587382
So the visitor can browse in both secure and non secure versions without getting any security warnings.
It is important to consider this fact when deciding on which platform to use for your FanPages as some providers are not aware of this and could cause loss of traffic and revenue to your FanPages.
As you know one of the major benefits of using BZ9 is that you can leave the technical stuff to us and get on with running your business. However, if you want to keep abreast of what is happening within the Facebook Developer environment you can make a note of their blog http://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/497 or leave the boring technical stuff to BZ9.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.

providing https is a MAJOR plus for your offering. there's a few others that do this, but w/out https the offer is not up to snuff.
