On a regular basis I will be providing you with free information on working more effectively when using Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and other applications. My name is Joe Peterson. For the past 15 years I have provided computer learning sessions to people that work in organization across Canada. In a typical month I will provide 20 live in-person computer learning sessions at banks, hospitals, manufacturing companies and newspapers. On average 200 people attend one of my courses each month. In addition, each month I typically facilitate 20 on-line computer learning webinars for individuals across North America. In any given month approximately 240 people attend one of my on-line computer learning webinars. I teach people how to work smarter and quicker when using everyday computer applications like Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and so on. I have worked hard to develop my knowledge base on using these applications and on becoming a world-class teacher of adult learners. I am very proud of the work that I do. Here is what some people have said about my ability to help them learn... “I just wanted to let you know how helpful Joe Peterson is. I had an Excel question that I emailed him yesterday afternoon and this morning, I had his response and it solved my problem. His ongoing help is so valuable.”—Participant, Hamilton Spectator “I found Joe to be the best computer trainer around. He has a natural skill to engage a class in what is normally a really boring computer training. He brings it to life by making it relevant to the people attending.”—Training Coordinator, Linamar Corporation
“Great information. This was my first workshop on using computers. I can’t believe how much I learned in 3 hours.”—Department Manager, CUMIS Insurance
“Great session. There was a good progression from Basic to more Advanced topics. This will help me to better manage my time—I’ll be spending less time on the mechanics of spreadsheets and more time on analyzing the results and making better decisions about production.”—Logistics Planner, Henry Schein Ash Arcona
“This was the best learning course I have ever attended. Joe was very attentive to individual needs. He answered all of our questions as the session progressed. This will be very helpful in my job—since I have never used MS Visio before, but I am required to do so now.”—Participant, Southlake Regional Health Centre

Here are the steps.

CountA
The CountA function is used for counting cells that contain both text and numerical values. For example you have a list of suppliers similar to the following and you want to count how many suppliers are in the list.

CountIf
The Countif function is used for counting only those cells that meet the criteria that you establish.
