Cancer is one of the ailments responsible for the highest number of deaths in America and in the world at large. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), cancer was responsible for over five hundred and fifty three thousand (553,000) deaths in 2000. This goes to show that it is very prevalent. Other statistics have shown that the number of people diagnosed of cancer in all their various forms since 2000 have increased with each passing year. Unfortunately, cancer can be prevented by simply getting rid of some bad habits and adopting a few healthy habits. Some of these habits include
1. Stop Smoking Right Now
Regardless of the fact that cigarette seems to have a therapeutic effect on many people, it is recommended that if you want to live long enough and avoid coming down with lung cancer, you stop smoking right away. While some people take tobacco for medicinal purposes, it is better to completely avoid it if it is not for health reasons. There are many proven and effective methods meant to help wean you off the smokes. Look for any of these and use them.
2. Avoid Multiple Sex Partners
This in particular is for the women. This is because you can easily contact the human papilloma virus (HPV) from people you have sex with. The HPV is currently responsible for a large number of cervical cancer cases. Also make sure you go for consistent medical checkups and have some swabs done to check if there are any such cells present in you.
3. Try to Keep out of the sun
While it is normal for you to go and have fun on the beach during the summer, it is also wise for you to not expose yourself too much to the sun. And even when you go to the beach, you should make it a habit to use creams that have SPF30 as one of their major ingredients. These creams are meant to prevent the ultra violet rays penetrate your skin as too much exposure to the sun can result in melanoma or skin cancer.
4. Take a lot of Fruits
Fruits are naturally rich in nutrients and antioxidants. These antioxidants are particularly responsible for eliminating dead cells called free radicals. Research has shown that dead cells when left in the body can do more harm to the body by causing cancer, premature aging and so on. What you should do is make sure you take a lot of fruits. If you have access to the acai berry juice, take a lot of it to help get rid of all waste cells and keep you in good health.
5. Reduce the Amount of Fatty Foods You Take
For many people, red meat and ice cream are things they cannot do without. While they taste good, research has shown that consistently taking this leaves certain parts of the body predisposed to cancer. For example, people who take foods high in animal fat and red meat tend to be predisposed towards colon cancer.
