Heart problems and heart related ailments are currently one of the largest numbers of treated ailments that people suffer from in the United States and all over the world. To corroborate this fact, the Center for Disease control put the number of deaths caused by heart disease in 2000 over seven hundred thousand.
Closely followed by less than two hundred thousand deaths caused by cancer. Heart related ailments and diseases are quite common these days and only those who take proper measures to prevent it end up being free. Please note however, that congenital heart defects are not caused by anything other than genetic problems and organ malformation. There many reasons why people develop heart related conditions and these include
1. Poor Dieting
Many people are in the habit of eating just about anything that comes their way. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it is eatable, they are ready to consume it. What many of these people do not know is that what you eat has a way of affecting your heart and probably affecting you for the rest of your life. For example, people who eat a lot of junk tend to become fat and obese.
The excess fat gets stored in the body and the cholesterol start plugging the arteries. A consistent occurrence of this results in what is known as arteriosclerosis. These make the arteries thicker, hence reducing the blood flow. Thus, for blood to be pumped, the amount of pressure increases resulting in what is commonly known as high blood pressure.
2. Lack of Exercise
Coupled with the fact that people eat anyhow, they also avoid exercise like a plague. This avoidance is what often costs them their life. If you must eat junk, then you must have a way of burning the energy and the excess fat that is likely to be stored so that you can drastically reduce your chances of suffering a coronary.
3. Drinking and Smoking
Poor health habits like excessive drinking and smoking have adverse effects on the body in that it can literally increase an individual’s chances of becoming obese, overweight and prone to heart ailments. People with this habit often find that sooner than later, their bodies start reacting negatively to all the toxic waste they have been taking and before you know it, they would have become susceptible to heart problems as other major organs become gradually corroded.
4. Mental Habits
It is often advised that people stop worrying too much about their problems and issues. This is because consistent worry and apprehension tends to make the heart beat faster, thus increasing the pulse rate and generally overworking the heart. People who think too much tend to get very tense and when the body is under this form of pressure, the heart tends to overwork itself. People who consistently overwork their hearts as a result of the incredible tension in their bodies tend to get what is known as hypertension which is a form of heart problem.
