For many people, diabetes is like a death penalty. It sort of signals the end of negative eating habits and the sticking to of a rigid solid diet plan that can help maintain the diabetic. These days, everyone seems to be predisposed to diabetes considering the fact that what we eat seems to be extremely high in sugar content.
There are two main types of diabetes: The Type 1 and the Type 2. The type 2 diabetes is basically the type of diabetes that people get as a result of their pancreas malfunctioning thus causing a reduction in the amount of insulin produced. Since insulin is very important in digesting food, diabetics often have to be given synthesized insulin to keep their blood sugars low. If you don’t want to be restricted to a form of diet for the rest of your life, then you should make some moves to prevent it. Some of these moves include
1. Change Your Eating Habits
Diabetes Type 2 is often caused by a consistent loading up of the body with high sugar content foods, causing the body to stop producing the necessary agent that breaks down the sugar. This in effect leads to things like high blood sugar level, increased risk of heart problems and an overall change in body metabolism.
However, you can nip it in the bud if you change your eating habits from junk and excess sugar to eating healthily. This includes eating more fruits, proteins, lean meat and drinking lots of water. Foods that aren’t really good for your body include excessively fatty foods, carbs with high sugar content, candies and so on.
2. Exercising more Often
This doesn’t have to be something very rigorous. Although if you went to the gym frequently, that would be an added plus as you get to shed all the excess weight that you have been lugging around.
If you cannot do this, what you ought to do includes taking a brisk rigorous walk for 30 or more minutes a day, jogging –if you can manage- and increased aerobics. This way, your body will be better able to process the sugars and burn the fats there thus causing you to lose fats, feel and look healthy and increase your chances of living without diabetes.
3. Avoid Being Overweight
Research has proven that diabetes is somewhat associated to an individual’s weight and the amount of fat in their body. Therefore, you should start looking out for your weight frequently. If you adopt the two above mentioned lifestyles, I am sure you would not have any problems with this one.
But if you haven’t, then it’s about time you looked at your weight. If you are a guy and width of your hip when measured is from 40 and above, then you should go for a pre-diabetic test. For the ladies, once you are above 36, it is time for the same test.
